The city of Lille in France, in partnership with Lille Avenirs is looking for two young people from Leeds, aged 18-25, who speak English and have a good knowledge of French. They will work in 3 primary schools (1 per term) with additional time in youth and social centres during the holiday periods.

Objectifs

To encourage interculturality and the learning of the English language through playful activities.

Last to apply in July for start of volunteering in September.

Actions

The offer is intended to reinforce the longstanding twinning relationship between the cities of Lille (France) and Leeds, as well as to support English language learning and intercultural activity in Lille. The volunteer will work in three primary schools (one per term) with additional time in youth centres and social centres during the holiday periods. To contribute to the organisation and creation of English language and culture sessions.

To lead workshops or activities around English language and culture in primary classes during school time.

To help organise activities around English language and culture in community centres and recreation centres during school holidays.

To propose activities and help set up English language events/festivals in Lille.

To promote the Lille - Leeds partnership in the Lille area, helping set up specific activities about our two cities’ relationship, occasionally participating in projects, and linking with Lille’s international relations department.

You will be supported and encouraged to make proposals and develop the content of their activities.

Formations obligatoires

Training in first aid and in civic and citizenship will be provided to the volunteer.

Tutorat et accompagnement

Tutoring by someone onsite at each location. The mission includes a familiarisation period at each school and preparation time for workshops in pairs.
